During its regularly scheduled Board of Directors meeting today, Mission Springs Water District swore in two new directors, Amber Duff, representing residents in Division 1, and Ted Mayrhofen representing residents in Division 5.

“With the elections behind us, it’s now time we roll up our sleeves and get to work serving our constituents,” said Board President Russ Martin. “Politics aside, both Amber and Ted bring unique backgrounds and experience to the board, and I am hopeful that we will be able to come together and continue MSWD’s long tradition of proudly serving this community.”

Director Duff has worked as a legal secretary in the areas of criminal law, civil litigation, bankruptcy, family law, and estate planning. In 2002, she began working for Scripps Health as an administrator in nuclear medicine and radiation oncology and then assisted a Doctors group in opening and operating five freestanding cancer treatment centers as the Assistant Director. She is currently a payroll administrator and resides in Desert Hot Springs with her husband of 22 years and their 2-year-old son.

“It is my priority to bring sound business principles to the District and ensure ratepayers receive the most efficient, affordable, and professional service possible,” said Director Duff. “I am excited for the opportunity to bring fresh eyes and hard work to the Board while serving as a steward of our most precious and vital resource, water.”

Director Mayrhofen has been interested in the District since the early 2000’s when he ran for a seat on the MSWD Board in 2001. He has also served as a Commissioner on the Desert Hot Springs Parks Commission, Public Safety Commission, and, most recently, the Planning Commission. He is passionate about lifelong learning and has college-level education in environmental horticulture, turf grass management, and irrigation systems.

“I believe you should learn something new every day, and I look forward to applying my knowledge to the District and serving the ratepayers who elected me to this office,” said Director Mayrhofen.

The MSWD Board of Directors meets on the third Monday of each month and the Thursday before that Monday for a study session. Meetings begin at 3 p.m. and are available online. For more information, please visit www.mswd.org/board.
