Brian Macy is the General Manager at Mission Springs Water District. Having joined the District in 2019 as the Assistant General Manager, he was appointed General Manager in January 2024. 

An accomplished leader with more than 30 years of engineering and management experience overseeing operations and the strategic planning of water districts, Macy has a proven track record of successful leadership. He previously served as the General Manager of Indio Water Authority (2013-2018) and was the Assistant General Manager at Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (2018-2019).

During recent years, Macy has led several notable projects/initiatives, including: 

  • The construction of the grant-funded Nancy Wright Regional Water Reclamation Facility, which will almost double the wastewater capacity for MSWD and serve customers for decades to come;
  • The successful implementation of Budget Tiered Rates at IWA following the Proposition 218 process in 2013;
  • The creation of a Water Conservation Program in Indio, which included rebate initiatives and the installation of water-saving equipment;
  • And management of the refinancing of IWAs $60 Million Water Bond and the installation of three hexavalent chromium removal units, a pioneering achievement in Southern California's water industry.

Macy holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Ohio Northern University and is a licensed civil engineer in California and Ohio.

He is active within multiple professional societies and groups, including the Association of California Water Agencies, the American Water Works Association, the California Utility Executive Management Association, and the Indio Sunrise Rotary.
