- CV Water Counts Program
MSWD is a partner in CV Water Counts, a nonprofit group formed to focus on water conservation, through awareness-building and education to Coachella Valley residents, businesses, and government. The group is comprised of the Coachella Valley’s six water agencies. Visit www.cvwatercounts.com for more information and resources.
- Shared Water Conservation Goals: The Coachella Valley Regional Water Management Group
For decades, the valley’s six public agencies have been working together and, in 2008, they formed the Coachella Valley Regional Water Management Group (CVRWMG) to reduce water demand, increase our region’s water supply, improve regional water quality, serve as stewards of our shared water resource, and improve efficiency and flexibility. - Save Our Water
Save Our Water is a statewide, water conservation program created in 2009 by the Association of California Water Agencies and the California Department of Water Resources. The program’s goal is to make water conservation a daily habit among Californians.
- Water Shortage Contingency Plan (WSCP)
Following guidance from the California Department of Water Resources, MSWD created and adopted a Water Shortage Contingency Plan (WSCP) in June 2021. See the plan and plan appendix PDFs at the bottom of this page. Each of the six agencies in the Coachella Valley participating in the development of a 2020 Regional Urban Water Management Plan (RUWMP) is also adopting its own WSCP. The agencies have sought to align their shortage levels and shortage response actions to the extent possible in order to reduce confusion for neighboring customers during a shortage.
